Onsite/Offshore Product Re-engineering for a leading Foster Family Care Agency based in Northern California
Business Requirement
A leading Foster Family Care Agency based in Northern California had been using a DOS-based Custom Software (development Alpha-4 DBMS Environment). It is a desktop-based system without the support for concurrent multi-user access and is not very scalable in terms of user and data growth. Due to these limitations, individual databases are maintained in different offices with monthly consolidation done by the IT department. Since one of the core business elements for the client was to respond to a child placement request by a community care agency in a quick way, real-time data and the ability to share this real time data between offices had tremendous business value. The need was also felt for increased data security and access control due to increasing data privacy requirements.
Calsoft Labs Solution
Calsoft Labs has created an Intranet-based solution for Foster Care Agency Management System. Main features include:
- Child Allocation Management
- FP Home and GH Management
- Parent and Employee Data Management
- Accounts Payables/Receivables
- Reporting for Regulatory Compliance
- What-if Analysis for improving Rate Classification Levels
- Document Review Feature for critical documents such as Incident Reports
- Messaging for communication across the foster family
- Location-based Filters for accessing data at different levels
- 7 Levels of Access Control (based on Role and Location)
Technology
The solution leverages Microsoft technologies with 3-tier architecture. The elaborate UI requirements of the software have been accomplished by using custom ActiveX Controls. SQL Server 2000 is used as the database engine to provide the required concurrency, scalability, reliability and administration features.
