The Company
A technology company that specializes in SAN, set on to develop patented, IP based SAN devices. It has created a new class of network storage technology that is superior in reliability, performance, cost and scalability to all other types of network storage including NAS, SAN, Fiber Channel and iSCSI.
The Challenge
The key requirements of the client were:
- To develop Windows based client drivers and applications that would enable the usability and marketability of the new device.
- To provide 24x7 development and technical support for the Windows drivers and client application.
- To support other licensed manufacturers in their custom application development
- To support operating systems, MS Windows XP/2000
The Solution
As the client focused on the proprietary hardware and protocol, the client contracted Calsoft Labs to develop the client, driver and also to continuously upgrade/support the modules. Calsoft Labs set up an engineering team (ODC) consisting of a project manager, project leader, a senior architect, three software engineers and a quality analyst. Calsoft Labs set up the offshore development center at Chennai, India and started the work on August 01, 2004.
The team brought in considerable expertise in Windows System Programming, File System Filter, SCSI, PnP and Bus Driver to accomplish the project goals. Calsoft Labs helped the client in launching the prototype in less than 6 months and the end user product in less than a year from start. The product also won a few awards at various events in the area of innovative new technology.
Two years have gone by, the relationship has grown stronger. The development and support activities continue, as the customer is focused on upgrading the hardware and the firmware from 32bit to 64 bit OS.
